Neer Dose | Rice Dose
Neer Dose is a famous South Canara dish & it is prepared using raw rice & coconut. We call it as Neer (water) dose since the batter consistency is like water.

Ingredients
- 2 cup Raw Rice (Dose Rice)
- 3 tbsp. Grated coconut
- Salt as required
- Water approx. 2-3 cup
- Oil to grease the pan while preparing dose.

Instructions
- Wash and soak raw (dose) rice for 4 hours.
- Grind soaked raw rice & grated coconut with water to smooth paste. Remove from the grinding jar to a big bowl.
- Add required water and make the batter consistency to thin like water (1 cup rice = approx. 2 to 2.5 cup water).
- Add required salt and mix it well.
- Heat a dose griddle & drizzle few drops of oil. Using kitchen tissue wipe off the excess oil from griddle.
- When griddle is hot enough, take ladle full of batter spill little by little on the griddle. Tilt the griddle to spread the batter evenly.
- Cover it and cook for 1 minute. Now remove the cover and take out the dose and keep it aside in a plate.
- Each time, you need to mix the batter just before pouring on the griddle since the consistency is thin, the rice part goes down.
- Serve with chutney or Jaggery coconut.
