Heerekai Dose

Heerekai/Ridge guard

Dose Rice

Methi/Fenugreek seeds

Tamarind Pulp

Jeera/Cumin seeds

Channa dal
1 tsp
Urad dal

Curry leaves
½ cup
Grated coconut
Turmeric powder
a pinch
2 tsp
Jaggery
5 to 6 tsp
Oil
Salt
to taste
Water
as required
Instructions
Prep
Wash & soak rice for 4-5 hours.
Wash, peel the skin & cut Ridge gourds into thin slices.
Method
Heat a tsp of oil in pan, roast channa dal, urad dal, coriander seeds, cumin, dried red chillies, curry leaves, until dal turns golden brown.
Grind the roasted spices along with grated coconut, jaggery, tamarind pulp & salt to smooth paste.
To same grinding jar, add soaked rice & grind everything to smooth batter.
Heat a dose griddle & drizzle few drops of oil.
Now dip each ridge gourd pieces in batter and place them on hot griddle adjacent to each other to form a round or dose shape.
Sprinkle few drops of oil, cover the dose & cook for 1 to 2 minutes or till its brown.
Turn the other side of dose and cook for 1 more minute.
Serve hot Heerekai/Ridge guard dose with a spoonful of Butter.
