Onion Pakoda | Crispy onion fritters
Pakoda is one of the popular Indian snack. Onion pakoda is crisp, crunchy & perfect for teatime. This snack is prepared by mixing thinly sliced onions with chickpea flour, rice flour, green chillies & other spices.

Ingredients
- 3 Onion
- 1 cup Chickpea/gram flour/besan
- ¼ cup Rice Flour
- 3 Green chillies finely chopped (+ or - depending on your taste)
- 1 tsp Red chilli powder
- ¼ tsp Garam masala powder
- 7-8 crushed Garlic pods
- Handful Curry leaves finely chopped
- Handful Coriander leaves finely chopped
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying

Instructions
- Slice onions thinly and take them in a mixing bowl. Add half tsp salt mix well & set aside for 5-10 minutes.
- Onions would release water in 10 minutes. Then add gram flour, rice flour, green chillies, crushed garlic, red chilli powder, curry leaves, coriander leaves & salt to mixing bowl.
- Sprinkle water if required & prepare a thick batter.
- Heat oil in a kadai or frying pan for deep frying the pakoda.
- When oil is hot enough take a small portion of batter & drop them in hot oil. Do not add too many pakodas in pan. You have to turn the pakodas few times for even frying.
- Fry them till golden & drain them on kitchen paper towels for excess oil to be absorbed.
- Serve Onion pakoda with a cup of coffee or tea.
