Rava Idli | Semolina Idli
Rava idli is another famous south Indian breakfast dish. These are much easier and quicker as there is no need of soaking, grinding and fermenting process is required.

Ingredients
- 1.5 cup Upma Rava/Coarse Semolina
- 1 cup Curd
- 2 tbsp Oil/Ghee
- ½ tsp Mustard
- 1 tsp Channa dal
- 1 tsp Urad dal
- Curry leaves few (finely chopped)
- 2 Green chilli (finely chopped)
- Coriander leaves handful (finely chopped)
- Water approx. 1 cup
- Salt to taste
- ¼ tsp Baking soda

Instructions
- Heat oil/ghee in a pan, add mustard, once they splutter, add curry leaves & green chillies. Fry for few seconds.
- Add channa & urad dal & fry till they are golden brown.
- Add Rava/semolina & fry until nice aroma comes. Keep aside and let it cool a little.
- To this mix curd, coriander leaves, salt & water. Rest this batter for 10 minutes.
- Add baking soda to batter just before you pour it to moulds for steaming.
Steaming Idlis
- On medium flame, bring enough water to boil in an idly steamer.
- Grease the idli moulds.
- Pour the Rava idli batter in the moulds and place them in steamer once water starts boiling.
- Cook in medium heat for 10 minutes or until idlis are done.
- Remove the idlis from mould using wet spoon.
- Serve the steaming hot idlis with a spoon of ghee and chutney.
